Fundraising update

October 30th, 2009

On 10th and 11th October we held church gate collections in Castlecoote and Athleague. Thanks to everyone who donated.

We have tickets for a raffle on sale presently.  The prize is a weekend away in Bloomfield House Hotel Mullingar for two people for 2 nights B&B and 2 evening meals.  Draw for the raffle takes place on the 6th December.

We have Christmas cards and calenders on sale: €4.99 Cards €8 calenders.  They are well worth the money!

We will need volunteers to help out at the following events:

14th and 15th November
Church gate collection in Ballaghadreen

28th and 29th November
Bag pack in Dunnes Stores, Roscommon

12th and 13th December
Church gate collections in Ballagh and Ballyleague

18th December
Bag Pack in Duffy’s, Ballaghadreen

If you can help out at any of these events, or would like to buy raffle tickets, cards or calendars, then please contact Karen at 086 6613409.  Looking after the animals is very rewarding, but also extremely expensive – so every few cents we can raise is much appreciated and put to great use!

Some sad news

October 21st, 2009

It is with deep regret to have to let you know that we had to say goodbye to our puppies Noir and Dubh who both developed health problems and had been on a drip over their last few days. Our vet and staff did their very best to bring them round but had to let them go. We are all very sad that we could not change their fate which we believe may have been due to an infection which developed from their very poor start in life. We know we gave them the care and affection they so deserved in the short time they were with us.

lots of new friends!

    roscommonanimals.com is the online home of Roscommon SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). We are a non-profit organisation run by people who volunteer their time. We look out for the care and protection of animals in County Roscommon.

    We believe that animals should have

    * Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition

    * Freedom from discomfort

    * Freedom from disease and injury

    * Freedom to behave normally

    * Freedom from distress and fear

    Many thanks to the Department of Agriculture, from whom we have just received a generous grant of 10,000 euro (Dec. 2009), we are indeed very grateful for this. Without that money the Society would not be able to cope. We have received a grant from the Department for the past few years. Unfortunately though, we still have to do a huge amount of fundraising in order to keep going. We use private boarding kennels for the rescued dogs, and this, and vet bills cost a lot of money.
