Wish List

Taking the time to stop and help can make a difference.

Our thanks to all of you who have continued to support Roscommon SPCA. Without your dedication and time the animals who find themselves at our door would not find the loving homes they so deserve. Sadly we are not able to save all of them as sometimes the call for help is received too late.

Roscommon SPCA is run by volunteers, most of whom also have full time jobs and care for families and pets of their own; despite these commitments they find time to rescue and care for animals in despair. Those who work on the front line often have to attend animals who have suffered injury or neglect, often those most vulnerable, too old to work for their keep or newly born offspring who are too easily disposed of or abandoned.

Our organisation exists due to the dedication of its volunteers and although we receive some government funding our main funding is through the efforts of our volunteers and the support of the people of Roscommon. We work hard to raise funds and ensure they are carefully used.

Whether through volunteering or through contribution the support we receive is vital and very much appreciated.

To following list may give you some idea of the cost of our operation:

    roscommonanimals.com is the online home of Roscommon SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). We are a non-profit organisation run by people who volunteer their time. We look out for the care and protection of animals in County Roscommon.

    We believe that animals should have

    * Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition

    * Freedom from discomfort

    * Freedom from disease and injury

    * Freedom to behave normally

    * Freedom from distress and fear

    Many thanks to the Department of Agriculture, from whom we have just received a generous grant of 10,000 euro (Dec. 2009), we are indeed very grateful for this. Without that money the Society would not be able to cope. We have received a grant from the Department for the past few years. Unfortunately though, we still have to do a huge amount of fundraising in order to keep going. We use private boarding kennels for the rescued dogs, and this, and vet bills cost a lot of money.
